Our Meet The Inspiring Teaching Team series catches up with our esteemed leader, Barry Pactor.
Getting to know you
What’s your name and role within Inspiring Teaching?
Hi, I’m Barry Pactor and I’m the CEO and Owner of Inspiring Teaching.
How long have you worked with Inspiring Teaching?
Callum and I founded Inspiring Teaching in 2019. Callum and I have known each other for over 15 years and have previously worked well together.
How would you sum up your job in one sentence?
My role is to make sure that everything flows. This means that our clients get the best possible service, our candidates are trained and looked after well, and the team is motivated and happy.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
For me, it is seeing a new candidate and school work together. I love it when the fit is great for both sides, the school has the support it needs, and the staff member adds value for the pupils and teachers.
If you could learn anything instantly, what would it be?
It would have to be languages. I’m absolutely useless at learning new languages. My wife is fluent in French and finds it easy to pick up different languages.
Pineapple on a pizza?
Pineapple is wrong on anything, full stop.
What would you choose as a go-to song to put you in a good mood?
I don’t have a specific song, but I’d choose any song from David Bowie’s Hunky Dory album or anything by Blur.
What’s the most recent movie or series-binge that you’ve recommended?
The Netflix series Better Call Saul is a favourite of mine.
My wife and I have just finished watching the mini-series A Gentleman in Moscow together which I highly recommend.
Would you rather read a book, listen to an audiobook, or neither?
I’ve always enjoyed reading. I don’t mind reading on a Kindle, but it doesn’t compare to the experience of reading the hard copy.
I love giving somebody a copy of a book that I’ve enjoyed.
What’s your dream holiday destination?
We have had some amazing family holidays in Greece. I really enjoy being on the water.
As for a dream destination, anywhere by the sea in the sun is good for me.
